Do you even believe in documenting the events of your life? Is it important to you? The quicker you write down an event, the more emotion you can convey.

What do you do and don't do?

Hi, so I have some choices:

I can either go to somewhere in Sicily, maybe Trapani, and learn Italian

I can go to somewhere in Poland, maybe Zakopane with the mountains, and learn Polish despite it being a hard language. The course is shorter on Busuu.

Or I could learn both German and Poland and live somewhere in Poland by the German border. Or I could live in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, or Liechtenstein.

(I'm trying for Austria)

I have a lot of choices.

The movement where you move the neck and head to the side together, without the head tilting to one side.

I can't move my neck like that. Been thinking about learning how to and searched up for tutorials.
Saw this video that seemed good for people who are absolute beginners, because many others had people aleady moving their necks. Have tried it for 2 days, but neck isolation not yet possible.

Thought about asking here to know how easy/difficult it is and how other learnt it.
If you know any better tutorials or tips on how to learn it, please do share them.

Also, if you learnt it easily/automatically, do you think that it's not possible for everyone?

For me its the old fans and vacuum cleaners. Over 40/years old each and still going strong. Clear labeling inside and have been fixed up multiple times.

I keep hearing stuff like that Poland has bad air and that only half the locals are nice and such and that Italians are so much friendlier, the country's sunnier, and "don't ever go to Poland, you wouldn't like it there".

Some people say just vacation to both countries, girlfriend says live in Italy but vacation in Poland, and my dad and uncle say to vacation in Italy but live in Poland.

I'm still young so I won't worry about it now, but which seems to be more welcoming, more opportunities, and clean to live and all? Both seem about the same to me and both seem very culturally rich and pretty.

I have a boss who tells us weekly that everything we do should start with AI. Researching? Ask ChatGPT first. Writing an email or a document? Get ChatGPT to do it.

They send me documents they "put together" that are clearly ChatGPT generated, with no shame. They tell us that if we aren't doing these things, our careers will be dead. And their boss is bought in to AI just as much, and so on.

I feel like I am living in a nightmare.

I have a Keychrom K7 Pro with brown switches. I like the low profile keycaps and QMK has become a necessity. I am curious about red and blue switches. I understand the difference between all the switches and have keycap testers, which include many others, but I've not had the chance to type on all three.

I'm primarily concerned with how the feel of the switches you use contribute to your typing quality and overall experience. It would be great if you have any input spanning multiple switches.

Just that. Someone uploaded this photo of Zelensky allegedly taking a selfie in Kupiansk, which is supposed to be a city already taken by Russian forces. I am not really informed of the situation in Kupiansk, but this is not the issue for me.

In the Politics subreddit, where this was published, the comments are overwhelmingly pro Ukraine, which, well, checks out. But what I find kind of trollish, are the comments surrounding Zelenksy. It's like reading the five-star comments of the Google Play Services app in the Play Store, or something. They repeatedly talk about how big and glorious are Zelensky's balls? Praising his balls, even though, he is a smaller guy? They praise the bold actions of Zelensky calling him a European hero, imagining his heroic dialogues as in some cheap hollywood movie, etc. To me, it just feels utterly fake? I mean, AI fake.

What do you make of this, guys? Please, remember, it's not about the conflict itself.

Qualification:

No, seriously, it's just awful. I'm starting to worry that I'll end up homeless or working in low-paying jobs like mining, if, of course, such jobs still exist and aren't taken by other people. Maybe I should move to a more or less decent village, where at least I'll have the opportunity to grow my own food and get water from a well?

But I saw that life in the villages is very hard, and I'm not ready to work from morning until late at night without days off.

I am once again dumping my raw thoughts on Lemmy and asking your opinion on them.

My first dog (and pet in general) is nowhere near the age of me needing to think about putting her down, but having a dog has introduced me to the world of opinions on whether they should be put down when they get too old.

I've read a lot of very strong pro-euthanasia pet owner opinions, even going as far as accusing people refusing to put down their pets as "cruel" or actively wanting their pets to suffer. It really seems like a majority of pet owners, at least in the English speaking world, think putting their pets down is something you should always do when their bodies deteriorate past a certain point, and every time this is brought up you get a lot of emotional comments shaming anyone who doesn't subscribe to that philosophy.

The core argument being made seems to be that when their health conditions pile up past a point, it's not "worth" letting the pet live anymore, supposedly for their sake. But when I think about it further, I ask how can you be sure? All animals want to keep living, that's literally why animals evolved brains in the first place, to keep their bodies alive for as long as possible. How can you, who is not the pet, say for sure they would prefer to die than keep living? You can't ask them, and you can't get in their mind to determine how much they still appreciate being alive. Even the oldest, sickest pet will still make an effort to keep themselves alive however they can: eating, drinking water, moving out of the way of danger, etc. As far as I know, no animal (at least the animals we keep as pets) have an instinct to just give up and stop going through the motions of life past a certain age. Doesn't that imply they always want to live?

I consider the decision to no longer live past a certain age and certain number of health problems to be a uniquely human thing, and it doesn't feel right to impose that on a pet who probably doesn't have those thoughts. Even with humans, we refrain from making that decision for them. Someone who's in a coma isn't eligible for euthanasia just because they haven't expressed a desire to live, and the most their family can legally do is to stop actively keeping them alive with technology and let them die naturally. But if they don't die right after taking them off life support, you can't just straight up kill them, they need to die by themselves. Why isn't this philosophy applied to pets, who can never consent to euthanasia? You don't have to keep subjecting your pet to more and more invasive treatments just to extend their lives by a small amount, but at the same time, what gives you the moral right to unilaterally decide when they're done with living? Why is letting your pet die naturally in the comfort of their own home seen as cruel, while choosing for them when they should die is considered humane?

What do you think? I genuinely don't know how I feel about this but want to understand the problem and where I stand on it before my dog gets old enough for these things to apply.

I put in my order for a megaphone to take to protest and events. the people protesting the show are the biblical type from what I hear, I'm actually pretty ignorant on the details, but I smell an instigation opportunity, or an opportunity to spread love to drag queens. Qualification:

I can't take it anymore, I'm so sick of the fact that this AI is everywhere, and it's not even possible to understand whether the product was created by it or a human. Recently, I have begun to understand what the human soul is in creativity, it is like a kind of connection, you feel through the screen what a person felt, who, for example, wrote a book, sometimes it touches the soul very much, so that life becomes more pleasant, but it only works when you know for sure that this book is entirely human-made without the help of AI.

As for AI-created art, I'm tired of it, and believe me, I've been soaking up content that can't even be distinguished from human, but when I realize it's fully AI or partially created, it makes me sick, I just want to forget that I've ever seen this horror, no matter how perfect it is, and no matter how much better or more beautiful it is than human-made art, you can call it the Uncanny Valley effect.

Heck, sometimes I just want to wake up to the 1990s, 2000s, or 2010s, where there wasn't this AI that warps reality itself.

By the way, do you happen to know how to look for people who create art, for example, draw completely without AI, outside of Discord and those damn social networks? The fact is that lately I want not only to enjoy the art created by human, but also to communicate with those who create such art.

It just feels like a nightmare.

I'm aware that in many cases the answer is simply, "they don't," as many people don't seem to have the historical or theoretical curiosity to investigate it. However, I genuinely want to encourage more cerebral discussion around here, so I'll give a brief rundown.

The Second International was a big federation of socialists/social democrats with lots of different perspectives, the largest being Germany's SDP (which still exists today). The aim was to foster international cooperation and solidarity, and to promote the interests of the common people, including preventing the outbreak of a major European war. The Basel Manifesto, passed by a unanimous vote at the International Socialist Congress in 1912, stated:

If a war threatens to break out, it is the duty of the working classes and their parliamentary representatives in the countries involved supported by the coordinating activity of the International Socialist Bureau to exert every effort in order to prevent the outbreak of war by the means they consider most effective, which naturally vary according to the sharpening of the class struggle and the sharpening of the general political situation.

In case war should break out anyway it is their duty to intervene in favor of its speedy termination and with all their powers to utilize the economic and political crisis created by the war to arouse the people and thereby to hasten the downfall of capitalist class rule.

The Second International fell apart when the SDP voted in favor of issuing war credits, indicating support for German entry into WWI, with other social democratic parties following suit. This made any hope of international cooperation impossible. Although everyone said that they opposed the war in principle, they all found reasons to rally around their respective flags and point fingers at each other for who's side was more responsible.

Lenin was an exception to this trend and not only strongly opposed Russian participation in the war, but even went so far as to explictly call for Russia's defeat. The Leninist perspective is that the social democratic parties betrayed the international socialist movement and failed to oppose the war because had become filled with opportunists, people who were willing to go against the interests of the people out of fear of political persecution (or, in the interest of advancing their own careers) and that, from this, we can see that attempts to work within the system to achieve reform are vulnerable such mechanisms of subversion.

The breakdown of the Second International was not just a disagreement between social democrats and Leninists, but also between social democrats of different countries. When their respective countries turned against each other, and the range of acceptable opinions narrowed to the point that opposing the war would be seen as treasonous, they all found reasons to start fighting each other, in a largely pointless war on an unprecedented scale.

Is it really possible to build any sort of international coalition if a party limits itself to the range of opinions that are permissible within a capitalist system? And are modern social democrats even interested in that sort of internationalism anymore?

Anyways, on a whim I decided to check out the politics/news section. There's a bunch of less than intelligent creators but every so often I'll find a leftist video channel. Not many, but my journey has a long way to go. Anyways, does anyone else look for leftists on alt video/conservative video sites?
