Best inexpensive country/part of country to live in? (lemmings.world)

Hi, so I have some choices:

I can either go to somewhere in Sicily, maybe Trapani, and learn Italian

I can go to somewhere in Poland, maybe Zakopane with the mountains, and learn Polish despite it being a hard language. The course is shorter on Busuu.

Or I could learn both German and Poland and live somewhere in Poland by the German border. Or I could live in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, or Liechtenstein.

(I'm trying for Austria)

I have a lot of choices.

Sounds like you need to take some long vacations. Might want to pick your #1 preferred location, and vacation there for a month. But in some normal short term rental. If you can pull it off that is. I know there's a large amount of americans that make places their entire personallity (Hawaii, Alaska, Italy, France) they vacation there a lot, then eventually move there. They hate it after a few months and move back.

So, if you can find a way to temporary live there long enough the luster wears off, awesome. Could alao help you pick a city or neighborhood for the big move.

Preface: I noticed your pronouns and incorporated them in my answer. Sorry if that's not what you wanted.

The eastern part of Germany is more inexpensive than the west, but I would not recommend it outside of the cities of Berlin, Dresden and Leipzig - people are very far right and ...phobic. Against everything not cis-white. Or Jewish. Or... anything non-conforming.

Sadly, Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden are also the most expensive parts of east Germany to live in.

Berlin is a great melting pot, cost of living is also high, but maybe lower than, say, Hamburg or Cologne (or Munich...). But if you want to be yourself, might be an option.

Personally, I would pass on Austria. Rather go to Prague - although they have an even more difficult language.

I could see the appeal of living in Italy. Warm (hot, even) and I love the Italian language.

Sicily is rather poor, I think. Not too much to do there. Beautiful, though.

What's your plan? Study, work, see the world?

Study, live, see the world. Also, I should try for Prague because if Iโ€™m learning Polish, Czech shouldnโ€™t be much harder

Sorry to keep asking, I'm just genuinely curious because it could shape my goal on where to study and where there will be opportunities. I am furthermore taking German next year.

Not only this, but you can speak with a lot of Europe if you learn German and the language is taught in American schools!

I don't know much bout any of those places, but I'd think you'd want to lean towards living in a location that matches your skillset, so you can find work more easily. If you're an accountant, you'd probably want to live near a financial district. If you're a farmer, you'd probably want to live near a farm. If you have a fully remote job, still find a place in/near a hub for that type of work.

All 3 countries, from what I found, seem to commonly learn English as a second language, it seems that Italy speaks it the least though.

german is germanic like the nordic languages, you should learn german.
