Yeah, but the political party this one person comes from (and exemplifies) is gaining ground rapidly in the German government.

Because it's easier to see one scary boogie man we can blame than lots of little problems that add up, and that no one seems intent on solving.

I've no doubt that there are malicious foreign (or even domestic) actors of notable material wealth, but it's hardly the only cause for such things.

Definitely a better ratio than me, that's for sure.

I don't know that it is surprising, just that it is. And should be broadcast at every opportunity, just to catalogue the atrocities if no one is actually going to stop them.

The Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb. It was my first experience with what could be considered a "grimdark" or where things consistently go wrong no matter how well the protagonists achieve their goals.

It was just a constant stream of the main character getting shit on and failing the people around him (despite doing his very best not to) without any successes. I think I got through two books before I finally had enough.

I'm sure people enjoy it, and it's well written... it just did not fit me at all.

Which is one of many aspects of romantic attraction.

Has anyone started a rumor that they're actually a woman? That's how you know you've made it as a shitposting super-user.

Yeah, that seemed pretty obvious. Even to the most hardcore MAGA it'd probably be obvious, though they'd probably call it a good deal... a GREAT deal.

The people currently in charge of US foreign policy have more than made it clear how two-faced and opportunistic (and fascistic) they intended to be.

You can believe that an answer can be found scientifically. You can have faith that what you see with your eyes, and that what happens during experimentation is accurate and not a fluke or trick of some sort.

Just because religion dominates most belief, and there are strong religious groups that hold that belief and faith are binary with no wiggle room whatsoever does not mean that it's the only way they can function. On can still test faith and belief without losing them, and changing those beliefs to what holds more truth.

Holding that that belief and faith have no part in science... is a belief in and of itself. A particularly contradictory one at that.

Ah, if it's one of the definitions, it must be the only definition.
