Are you referring to church bells that ring for the time of day? I don't think that qualifies as a religious observance.

Well... OK, since we're asking the question, they are the same conceptually, both being a call to religious observance generally.

Practically they are not the same, as the church bells should be ringing for service once per week, rather than multiple times per day.

This would kind of make sense if Isildur had taken the ring and tried to disassemble it and learn how its various magic effects worked, in order to extend life without the downsides.
