The worse things get in my life the more I feel like this. I believe it's a consequence of being raised Christian. (Though I am an atheist now.) When I was younger I believed God never gives you more than you can handle. So when things got bad it felt like God was breaking that promise. Now that I'm older it feels like "bad writing." Like, really? This many bad things in such a short time period? It's a little on the nose, isn't it? It's why I can't rewatch I saw the TV Glow until I know I am in a very stable mental place.

Major spoilersThe main characters enjoyed a TV show that got cancelled on a cliff hanger. It is revealed that the characters are actually characters from that show which is reality and the false reality is the world they're stuck in. To get back to the true world they have to bury themselves alive.

I saw this movie right in the heels of Trump's inauguration when I had a lot of other stress going on. Naturally, a movie with 4th wall breaking lines like "Do you ever feel like your life is a TV show?" when I did feel like my life was scripted and the way for them to get out was suicide was pretty terrifying.

The irony being that I have been going through a bit of a gender journey for a while and knew the movie had themes to do with that, but none of that really hot anywhere close to home as the rest mentioned above. I'm just glad I planned to see it surrounded by friends.

The idea that there's an escape hatch on reality is so alluring. The idea that all the bad things in your life are the fault of one person, even if they're a metaphysical entity, is so appealing. The sad reality is that it's all random and sometimes we just get unlucky streaks.

Stop 9/11. Oh, wait. Uh... Damn. Try to stop this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Tampa_Cessna_172_crash wait that was January, probably not in January of 2002. Why did some crash a Cesna into a tower? Is that like a baby 9/11? Oh, the terrorist was inspired by 9/11. Shit, how many 9/11 copycats have their been?

It does do some static stuff but I don't know if you'd be able to feel that from another room.

CRT TVs have a very iconic high pitched noise. It's somewhat similar to the sound of tinnitus. Combine that with some people not being able to hear those high pitched noises very well (especially as they age) it makes sense that you may have been able to hear them but not really consciously be aware of it.

If the community moderator acts in it before instance admins see it then they don't see it, right?

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

In case anyone is reading this thinking "nah, there won't be a time I wish I listened," take it from me that I do. I worry a lot about the current political climate in the US and about talking about queer topics online. Like, obviously, today it sounds insane to worry about, but who fucking knows.

For fuck's sake, they're using period tracker apps to go after people for suspected abortions to charge them with "murder".

A lot, or at least some, companies install root certificates on your devices and route traffic through a proxy over their VPN meaning even things that should be encrypted by TLS they can see.

Super powers are already an infinite glitch. Theyre supernatural so are inherently glitches. Things like flight, like super man flight, generally don't take effort from the user so already break thermodynamics in small ways. But if you're breaking a law of nature at all you're already going infinite.

Imagine you have a bunch of people with this style of flight. Imagine a sort of ski lift device but unpowered. Have them fly to the top and ride it down. Because no weight is going up, only down, the ski lift doesn't need to be powered. Additionally, because it doesn't take power (food) for people to fly up, then you get free energy extracted at the bottom.

Congratulations, you have created a perpetual energy device with a single super power.

I remember some video. It was a joke about IT remoting in to fix a computer. The icons on the desktop were shaped like a dick. Then it guy took a screenshot and was like I'm definitely sending this to HR as he sorted them alphabetically. Then the other dude was like "no put it back, infant find anything!" And the line that sticks with me, the IT guy says "there's no sort by dick".
