Bruh I had to look this up and like the gene is responsible for a green glow in creatures when exposed to blue to ultraviolet light. That being said, I don’t get the joke. Is this like this gene shows up in a lot of things on earth? Like how everything becomes a crab or a worm?

GFP is often combined with other genes of interest in biotech to provide an easy way to check whether the genes of interest are successfully incorporated/active. Glowy cells = successful, dark = unsuccessful/inactive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reporter_gene
