Don't do shit like "lemmy etiquette". Just follow human etiquette and be a pleasant human and everything will be fine.

Also stop worrying so much about "doing anything bad". Sometimes you fuck up, sometimes you upset people, it's no big deal. You're good.

I have a really intense fear of getting in trouble and making people mad, due to stuff that's happened at school.

I never expected a comment to be so hard to write. Have a great day, thanks.

I was heavily bullied at school, so I understand. Have fun undoing the damage others caused you :D it's an adventure.

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Thanks. It was not students bullying, but kinda similar (try asking my principal haha)

I’m a pleasant human but find myself often downvoted for what I consider an average social democratic view; taking the viewpoint that, in my country, cops are generally trustworthy, the market works when regulated by a well functioning democracy and it’s ok to be wealthy, but expect to be properly taxed.

cops are generally trustworthy

Oh man, you must not deal with cops a lot.

the market works when regulated by a well functioning democracy

I see you believe in fairytales

[–] sunbeam60@feddit.uk -2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Or I live in a country with better cops than you?

In terms of delivering the highest proven outcomes for the broadest amount of people I’ve not seen evidence that anything beats a well regulated market. If new evidence is presented I shall gladly revise my opinion.

Or I live in a country with better cops than you?

So you don't live in the UK?

[–] sunbeam60@feddit.uk -2 points 2 weeks ago

Not at the minute no.

Or I live in a country with better cops than you?

Not sure the country you are referring to exists. Maybe Japan?

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Japanese cops do fuckall. Which is really nice coming from America.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

They said theyre trustworthy, which in my experience would generally be true in Japan. You probably wont get shot in the head for your skin color, which may not seem like much but we are living in strange times.

[–] Twongo@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

i am sorry for being insulting but claiming the cops in the UK are generally trustworthy is delusional and just insulting to a LOT of people.

[–] sunbeam60@feddit.uk -2 points 2 weeks ago

I live in Denmark at the minute.

[–] MagicPterodactyl@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

Hot take but I think people who spread misinformation should be downvoted.

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You really need to stop saying "average" when you mean "well off, white, westerner".

[–] sunbeam60@feddit.uk -2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Where I live, well off (seen in global scale), white, westerner is the average. Would you prefer me to represent an opinion that doesn’t reflect what I observe in my surroundings?

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

I'd prefer you remember that your double doesn't define objective "normal"

those views are considered heinous on many lemmy instances, that's why.

the lemmy hivemind is largely socialist/communist, or at least anti capitalist. it's also intolerate of anyone with moderate or conservative viewpoints on social and/or economic issues.

just accept that and ignore the haters. most instances desperately need more diversity in their viewpoints.

the good thing is unlike reddit, you won't be banned for having a different point of view.

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.ml 1 points 5 days ago

I'm pretty sure 'hive mind' is a reddit thing

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

the lemmy hivemind

A big way Lemmy defers from Reddit: people who unironicly use the word "hive mind" are not to be taken seriously and you can just ignore them.
