Isn't one thing also that the market participants have to act rationally and in their own self interest (without mass manipulation or even delusion).

Also, these people probably now aren't doing their job well. And I strongly believe doing your job badly does more harm to society than it helps.
It's not like they will roll in with their tanks. They are already attacking with cyber attacks and sabotage on infrastructure as well as drones. And most importantly they sow social unrest with the goal of undermining democracy and bring into power pro Russian parties like AfD and BSW.
Sounds a lot like drunk to me which a lot of people seek out as well, even the uncomfortable degree.
Kind of ironic that the Star Wars franchise became worse during the time the US became even more like the Empire.
