Yes, using it since 10 years as main browser. It's the most advanced browser out there, good privacy, great ethics to the user by this EU company (employee owned cooperative in Norway), perfect transparency, great community, and yes it isn't OpenSource, but source available (https://github.com/ric2b/Vivaldi-browser, https://vivaldi.com/source/), the proprietary part (5% of the UI script is 100% auditable and even moddeable by the user, in the forum they show how (naturally at own risk)). It's Chromium based (de-googled), but not a simple fork like other.

What is save or not in the chem and pharma industry in the capitalism depends of the profit it brings, nothing else.

If I don't share it, I can't visit the USA, nor if I share it, that's why this is obsolete for me anyway. FTUS πŸ–•

The best is Portmaster, it monitors individually all traffic from installed apps and even the one form the OS itself, with the option to block what you don't like, DNScrypt with a big filterlist and optional an (paid) SPN service (VPN which allowed to use different servers depending on the website). IMHO better and easier to handle as Pi-Hole, which don't permit individual per app settings.

There are several apps to gut Windows, but the Optimizer is the most complete I know. The good thing of Windows is, that are tons of FOSS apps for it out there to show the middle finger to M$.

Manyverse is a social networking app with features you would expect: posts, likes, profiles, private messages, etc. But it's not running in the cloud owned by a company, instead, your friends' posts and all your social data live entirely in your phone. This way, even when you're offline, you can scroll, read anything, and even write posts and like content! When your phone is back online, it syncs the latest updates directly with your friends' phones, through a shared local Wi-Fi or on the internet.

We're building this free and open source project as a community effort because we believe in non-commercial, neutral, and fair mobile communication for everyone.

The Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) permanently deleted its account on X (formerly Twitter) on December 4, 2025, citing the platform's increasing hostility and misalignment with their values[^1].

The FSFE explained that while they initially used Twitter to promote free software values and connect with policymakers and journalists, the platform had become "a centralised arena of hostility, misinformation, and profit-driven control"[^1]. They specifically criticized X's algorithm for prioritizing "hatred, polarisation, and sensationalism"[^1].

While leaving X, the FSFE continues to maintain some presence on other proprietary platforms to reach wider audiences, but strongly encourages supporters to follow them on decentralized alternatives in the Fediverse, specifically their Mastodon and Peertube accounts[^1].

Microsoft has launched a new rewards program offering Chrome users "real cash value" points to switch to Edge browser[^1]. When users search for "Chrome" on Bing, they receive a prompt offering 1,300 Microsoft Rewards points that can be exchanged for gift cards, including on Amazon[^1].

The Browser Choice Alliance, representing Chrome, Opera and Vivaldi, criticizes this as Microsoft's latest tactic to manipulate browser choice, following earlier practices like "forced resets, misleading prompts, and hidden settings"[^1].

The market context shows why Microsoft is pursuing this strategy - Edge holds less than 9% market share compared to Chrome's 78%[^1]. The rewards program appears targeted specifically at Chrome users, with Windows Latest noting "we're not seeing ads for other browsers, such as Opera, Firefox or Brave"[^1].
