For real though, it would not surprise me in the slightest if they baked in a parameter to the model like telling it to begin from the assumption that all orders given are lawful.
It's literally just Prosperity Gospel. They believe we already live in a meritocracy, therefore the white people that were getting the jobs were the most qualified. They're there because they're the best, and they're the best because they're there. Therefore any efforts to give a chance to people who didn't have those same opportunities through DEI programs necessarily requires that those people are not as good of candidates.
It is literally impossible for these people to understand that they aren't changing the requirements at all in almost any case. That all that's happening in most any case of a DEI program is that they're giving the same consideration to a black or brown person that didn't have the same networking connections as the legacy white guy whose Dad goes to the same country club as the hiring manager or whatever.
Which is absolutely hilarious when you think about it. Because if our system was annually based on merit half of these people crying about "DEI Hires" would never actually have gotten hired themselves for their own positions. Most of these people are where they are because of who their parents were and who they knew. If you peeled that away and evaluated them anonymously against a comparable "DEI Hire" they'd get BTFO pretty much every time.
The aunt is more the ODD one. My uncle was the more recent interaction of "ignoring the facts because they don't vibe with his feelings." Don't ask me how the hell they stayed married as long as they did.
My partner's actually got her degree in behavioral pharmacology because what do you mean you told an autist that actually there are rules you can learn for human social bullshit and it's not all some variation of "because I said so" or "that's how we always did it" and there's also a field within that where I don't even have to really interact with any people? Biggest fight I ever "started" with them was... Asking what specifically about Trump 1's tax policy benefit them. I mean I know that I asked it because I knew that they didn't make nearly enough to actually see a single cent of a tax cut from that round in 2017. But apparently his wife really didn't appreciate my asking about it because all I got in response was "Doesn't matter, still voting for him" after she specifically brought up taxes as the reason again mind you. I just asked her what specific benefit they got from his tax cuts. But I heard from my Mom that apparently I made that aunt really mad.
So mad in fact I have literally never seen her since actually come to think of it. They divorced not long after that, she moved to PA and is a fucking gay rights conservative which is fucking wild.
