True though I'm a pretty big fan of Lucy Lawless, Taika Watiti, and Jermaine Clement. I hold myself to a higher standard. 😆

I think you're right. They aren't just nasal Aussies no matter how close proximity they are. It sucks no matter where it happens. I hate that us Americans have gotten so desensitized to it. There's definitely middle ground to work from on reducing mass murders including gun violence.

This doesn't get brought up enough. The UK and US rolling up with wealthy Zionists to bully people from their ancestral lands. To give those lands to the wealthy Zionists who has largely escaped personal suffering. As consolation for their suffering they'd largely escaped. (But also as a platform to influence and manipulate the middle east) Anyone should be infuriated. Not just Palestinians.

It certainly is, but something that was always to be expected unfortunately. Capitalists and oligarchs despise democracy. It's been happening a bit more slowly throughout the rest of the world. But the new ruling class is entrenching themselves.

Though I'm sure an ML will be along shortly to tell us all how. "Um aksually, it's good when their guy does it."

You are so close. Why stop half way there. Look into the founding of Israel. It was always colonial and Zionist. Jews lived in Palestine before Israel. Peacefully with their Palestinian neighbors. The middle east wasn't even the first place the UK and USA were looking to relocate the Jews to.

For a time they were looking to the jungles of South America. But the Zionists wouldn't have it. Hijacking the process and demanding Palestine. After what happened to the Jewish people as a whole. (Though not most of the wealthy Zionists demanding Palestine. As they all fled with their families early.) There was a lot of sympathy collectively. And for many reasons the UK and allies finally caved on Palestine. So instead of moving and integrating with the local peoples and culture. They came rolling up with the aid of two large bullies to steal the land from under the people living in it. Day one minute one.

That isn't to say that this was all or is all the people living in Israel. Just the leadership the whole time.

Though the fact they mix pleasure with business. Is a legitimate issue. Tying funding to their political fiefdom rightfully turns many off. Thankfully there are better options these days and no real reason to recommend Lemmy to anyone.

I love the concept of peer tube. The reality of it needs a lot of work.

Perhaps a not for profit, focused on funding and supporting creators for peer tube could fix a lot of the issues. It's a huge hurdle that keeps many on YouTube. That and providing base minimal infrastructure to seed the media.

Don't be so sure. Agent Krasnoff desperately wants the approval of Putin and Xi. He basically handed what was left of our economic influence to China nearly the moment he took office. And has spent the year screaming and crying like a petulant child. He will abandon Taiwan at the first hint of any approval or attention from Russia or China.

To an extent. In a know your enemies sense it's useful. In a useful communication sense it's becoming more and more ineffective. There's software that will post to both twitter and mastodon. If your audience is on twitter but you make no effort to change that. Then you support it to your own determent. Part of it is a publicity thing.

More need to be like hey, if you follow me but want less fascism popping up in your feed. You can now follow on mastodon etc. If enough people did that, we'd see some changes. Probably banning mention of mastodon on twitter. But still better than passive inertia.

Edit And hello again.

¿Why not both?

It will definitely, unfortunately, be one-sided and unnecessary. But it is what our government specializes in. Not a maduro fan. But any of the world powers whether it's the US, Russia, or China. Actively attacking or saber rattling against neighbors, can get fucked.
