Found in Southwest North Carolina. They were all over the exposed root of a fallen tree, was really impressive to see.

If anyone is familiar I’d appreciate an ID for my own curiosity.

I can't help with an ID but my mom used to live in Murphy and I appreciate this little memory of those times ❤️ Lots of chicken of the woods!

I was one of the officer on the Murphy NCANG unit back in the 90s after the Gulf War. Good people.

They are good people! But they also hid Eric Rudolph so they are complicated people. Lots of neat things there. Thanks for your service!

Then you will like this story. In 99 the FBI sent a few guys and they had a meeting with the 210th officers, of which I was one, about using the unit for searching the woods for him. One of the lieutenants was from Murphy and he looked strait at the FBI guys and told them they were wasting their time because half the unit was related to Rudolf and the other half was sympathetic. The FBI guys thanked us for our time and left. I got out a few month after that. It was just too far for me to drive and being a NG officer was too time consuming for my civilian job. You are correct they are a complicated people.
