Purchased one of these to give to my friend's dog, but it kinda came out of the store with these black hairs(?) and some muddy(?) parts. Didn't find anything on the internet on which products should I use and how do I clean one of these, so...

I wash my dog's toys in the dishwasher, the ones she doesn't destroy first.

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Okay now what if I don't have a dishwasher

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

Buy a dishwasher, duh! /jk

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dish soap. Use a scrubber brush and let it dry.

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

Thanks, friend.

It’s for a dog, that likely puts far worse than a couple of black hairs in its mouth, I wouldn’t bother honestly.

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, it's a gift, so I'd rather hand it to 'em on a good state.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Dogs have no concept of "gifts".

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The dog's owner will, though.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You don't, it's a ball for a dog. Whatever shape it's in now will be infinitely better than 2 seconds after the dog gets a hold of it. 😉

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I still wanna hand it to my friend on a good state. I mean, you would feel weirded if someone gave you a VERY dirty thing as a gift, right?

(PS: I like to joke on how her pup will "swallow the whole ball" since he is so playful)

Option A - clean it like you clean a potato

Option B - put it in the washing machine.

[–] irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

I want to try this now.

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

That's the best part.

[–] yyyesss@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

i've had success with the dishwasher.

[–] gingernate@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What is with the alignment of the counter top corners!?

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

A drinking fountain. The thing under it is the kitchen floor and my leg, tho.

[–] rmuk@feddit.uk 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

This just raises more questions.

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Sorry, I'm not an English native, but it's something like that on the image.

[–] Perspectivist@feddit.uk 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I've heard people say that dogs shouldn't be given tennis balls because the hair traps sand and dirt which is bad for their teeth.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It reads as if this is a lookalike of a tennisbal, specially made for dogs

[–] Perspectivist@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Looks equally fuzzy to me.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 2 points 1 day ago

Thank you, I haven't shaved.

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I would use a brush with some soap and water to clean it. Most anything with bristles would do the job I think. Could just be how it was manufactured though.

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thanks, friend, you really helped.

To get rid of any lint or hairs on it, simply stick and pull masking tape on the ball. Otherwise, just rinse in water

[–] MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Rinsing it on water then brushing it helped. Thanks, lad.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Dab it with a strip of duct tape.
