and completely unnecessary... that had no bearings on the current race or strategy for Max, they were either too petty to wait a few mins to discuss that in closed doors, or they wanted to make sure it was publicly known
BTW, F1 commentators did the same, they predicted Mercedes would "do McLaren a favour" as they would not want to see the winning Driver Champion behind a Honda
DC loves to mention how other teams/teammates will make things easier, but it made absolutely no sense for Mercedes to give up points when they're trying to secure second in the constructors.
The whole train of thought is just brainrot. Even if we somehow believe that Merc wants to screw RBR over so badly that they're willing to risk their 2nd place at the constructors, how do they communicate that to Antonelli without the rest of us knowing about it? It's not like Antonelli has some vibrator up his ass to get morse code from the pitwall. That would have to be discussed and decided before the race that if by some miracle the merc drivers somehow end up ahead of the McLaren they should just let McLaren pass so they could screw with Max?
I don't know what those people are smoking but they should put the pipe down.
100% agree... and that has always been the true Achilles heel of all conspiracy theories, even if you had 100% compliance and even if you did it in the open, to orchestrate such a strategy and execute it flawlessly, it would be borderline impossible; let alone having to do it in perfect secrecy and dynamically enough to adapt to any and all possible outcomes
