Vance sucks, but this article is ridiculous.
He made a joke referencing John Kerry; the staff was amused. No one cares about this. Vance has other actual weird shit he believes and does.
You significantly underestimate how seriously Philadelphia takes its cheesesteak.
This is like a politician going to a classic Chicago pizza parlor and asking if they can have a thin crust pizza because it was a reference to something Walter Mondale said once. No one remembers that shit, all they hear is you not understanding a damn thing about Philly.
Way late, and not really relevant, but Chicagoans prefer thin crust. Deep dish is not a daily driver, more of a Sunday ride type deal. When friends are in town, take the nice car out. Functional thin crust for the work week.
