I do sys admin/engineering work in a Windows environment. PowerShell is what got me this job, and together with my programming experience allows me to keep up with my seniors who have been in their positions for a decade or more.
It also helps us all make a good team. They have the knowledge and experience advantage (though I'm catching up), I have the skills to figure out how to implement/automate the plans in a way that doesn't involve days of mind numbing manual actions.
A big part of the shift from lemmy to piefed seems to be that piefed has a faster development cadence, and that the developers of lemmy are openly tankies.
The flagship Lemmy instance, as in ran by the devs, is lemmy.ml. The ml stands for marxist-leninist. The lead dev regularly bans people from the entire instance for so much as questioning Chinese and Russian ~~propaganda~~ news sources, and they have many many other very controversial takes. There are some comms across the fediverse that document a lot of this, like !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works
From a sticky there, the lead dev Dessalines denies the Tiananmen Square massacre and praises the Uyghur genocide.
So far as I'm aware, the piefed devs haven't been involved in any drama, and aren't posting hardline shit about their political beliefs either.
