Been using vlc for.... 15 years? Maybe more!

There really should be list somewhere, so all these greedy idiotic companies pushing slop on us can flounder in their losses when the bubble pops.

ESPECIALLY any media-related company that is using AI now to push slop, they can NEVER be trusted again no matter what (ie, spotify)

Id like a list so I can donate/support any anti-AI projects/companies.

Noted. Appreciate it. Im gonna have to read up more on security. In the old days I didnt really have anything, just moderatd it, and was pretty much fine. But now I dont even know if you can have ports open etc or if that's old school. I have a vpn but no one else I know does.

Thats very interesting and accurate.

I think a lot of people, including myself, sometimes have the urge to give up creativity because we are seeing 3 billion other people online doing everything better than us.

Then you realize, no one cares, do what you want.

Yeah, and the entire debate is moot since the cutting needle uses a digital offset when its cutting anyways even if it is from the master tape.

Its not analog or digital. Its the care and thought that was put into it. It just so happens that usually more care and thought is put into it when its analog.

I also prefer physical media of any type. Of course records are peak, theyre large enough to store great artwork and can sound very very good. They have a benefit of physically not being able to be brickwalled be some mixing engineer that's being screamed at by the marketing team to clip the mix bus so its loud as fuck and has no dynamics.

I dont mind that at all. Thanks,

Ugh, painful.

And WE will be laughed at as the dumb ones. At least we know how computers work, lol

Im a realistic audio enjoyer.. im not dropping 10000 dollars on a speaker set because I know my room isn't tuned. However ill set up my room best i can and buy nice used equipment to make it sound great.

I enjoy digital and analog sources. The mastering is what truly matters. I can tell you some of the best sound ive heard is off my reel to reel, because the mastering back then wasn't catering to shitty phone speakers.

Then again, the cd of Grace sounds amazing, again because of mastering.

I can say for absolute certainty that the vinyl 2 disc pressing of no more tears sounds VASTLY better than the cd, again because the cd is mastered like poop to appeal to the masses.

So one can enjoy audio and still be level headed about it. I dont give a shit what my cables are made of or if my amp has no lid on it.

And magnepans! Not electrostatic, they are dipole, but they sound like magic. Ive yet to not impress people with them

So, I stopped playing Minecraft when m$ acquired them. I refused to make a ms account. I had already bought the game twice under Mojang.

So, fuck Microsoft. How are you guys playing Mc with friends? Id like to load up my old (7 ish years) world again and play like the good times before ms ruined it all.

Am I stuck with mineclone?

Maybe a silly question - but is it unwise to use Firefox for getting torrents, or saving any bookmarks in firefox? Is there benefit to using a private window (doubtful as I believe this only affects your device).

I know we generally can trust Firefox but they could turn quickly.

Is the inability to see "big picture" things a common adhd trait or just a "people are different" trait?

Example, ive never enjoyed jobs that involve long term planning because most of the managers etc have no clue how the actual work or the details of a project are done. They say they'll "do x thing by y time" without knowing anything about it or the actual amount of work and expertise it would take.

Now im the one doing the detailed actual work. And I enjoy it because its real vs a bunch of people making a plan about something they dont even know how to do.

Same thing with "5 year plans".I literally cannot do it because 1. All my plans involve "have money to do thing" and 2. You could easily get cancer and die in 5 years (or other big changes).

Now I do invest for long term (because its easy) but otherwise I find it very hard to look at big picture things without every single detail.

I rarely get sick, but am pretty sure I got covid a month ago. Basically 2 weeks of sick, nothing huge but at one point basically had no voice. Now its a month later and I still have lost like half my singing range. My voice just cracks out if I try.

Hope its temporary but I dont know. Anyone else get this?

Do you guys notice when youre keeping your brain active and busy its fine (hyperfocusing on multiple projects, manic business etc) . But if you want to wind down you feel the need to drink so it slows your brain down? If I dont, my brain never stops and its hard to enjoy doing something that isn't one of my 3000 projects.

I especially find this with gaming. Its very hard to stay engaged in any game without drinking because its a "waste of my time"

Can people with aphantasia have adhd ? Just a thought i had. I still am baffled it's even possible for someone not to have a "minds eye" but science says its true!

My diagnosis actually said mine is low level, which i dont trust and im pretty sure I just am good at faking the test and its much worse than it looks.

My friend kind of thinks everyone just has adhd but they dont understand the level at which i have it. Like they can focus for a 16 hour workday- there's no fucking way I could do that, I can barely do 9 and most of it is not real work either.

Any time I go to a large city im exhausted by being charged for doing anything. How do people have fun if theyre poor(the neat part, you dont, probably). And to make it worse many of them probably have a 1 bedroom apartment so its not like you can sit in there all day long (at least i cant).

I realize im still spending money by being in my house out of town, but still, at least things I buy are owned by me, and im not paying someone else every time I want to do anything. If I want to stay at home all day I have tons of stuff to occupy my mind without going nuts.

I figure 98% of lemmy users live in big cities so id like to hear this perspective!
