It's funny, because if they just made this a "battery preserve" option, it would probably be hailed as genius and put in every single phone on the planet by now.
Denmark is also the leader of the EU movement to break encryption, mass surveil all EU citizens (to make sure nobody pushes back against the corporate bank ownership , but "for the children's of course), then because they broke encryption, ultimately give access to everyone's mass surveillance data to foreign nations and bad actors.
Dear god there doesn't have to be an app for everything.
Make a website and if you really want an app-like experience, make a damn PWA. No, I don't want to download your terribly optimized, huge app to get a receipt...
I'm sorry, but to get my UK ETA for traveling for work I had to download an app that I will literally use 1 time in 2 years because it is valid for 2 years. It could easily be done with a PWA.
It is not more secure, it is less secure for the end user as apps have been caught many many more times stealing data and being malware compared to a web page where you generally have to download malware.
But in much of the EU, electricity is expensive.
I had an EV for a while (tons of people have company cars in Belgium) and charging it at a fast charging station costs like 10% more per km than gas. A regular charging station is very slightly cheaper.
Charging at home used to be cheaper, but now energy companies charge a fee for "peak energy usage" that is more than 15 minutes, so if you charge your car at 11kW at home once in a month, you will get an extra fee on your 250€/month energy bill of 50€.
I am interested in that battery research though, because charge-cycle wise, only lithium iron phosphate subsection of EV battery chemistry would last even near that long. Lithium ion only lasts 500 cycles before degrading to 70% and LiPo is only 1000. My ID4 could do 420 km on a charge, assuming a LiPo composition, that is 420k kilometers, which is a quarter of what you say. That said, that is a pretty long lifetime for a car. Especially because all of the sensor systems would break down or be remotely disabled to force you to buy new ones long before then.
