Honestly having the time to take those courses was why I even left my last job to take this factory job, but then COVID happened and everything got put on hold and the "omg recession" cycle started.

Unfortunately no, the shitty factory job gives nothing but some pie before thanksgiving. At least they give something I guess lol

I'm 39 and feel like it's definitely too late for me. I'd be 42+ by the time I'm done and with the way the economy is and the job market in general I don't think there would be any positive for me to go through that expense.

I basically just missed the boat, all my friends went to school for computer science when they were ~20 so they're safe now and make an absolute killing. If I were to try that now I'd just join the like millions that can't find work in that field... For the last 5 years every single day the news has been "omg a recession is coming, it's coming, it's definitely coming like tomorrow! Be afraid, it's coming!" So I never left my shitty factory job, but now I just feel stuck...

It's a masterclass in externalities: local communities face the consequences of the resource consumption by the data centers.

Job loss: were all told the "knowledge market" is where you deserve a good salary. AI threatens a lot of that work. Blue collar factory work will go as soon as AI can be properly integrated with nimble robotics that aren't quite there yet. With how disgusting our society is (in the US) there will be no consideration for the people who can no longer find work.

Wealth built on theft and gambling: people like Altman become fabulously wealthy with a system that makes 0 profit and has been built off of the stolen works of millions of people.

Capacity to manipulate: we've had enough trouble with bad faith actors on the Internet with real people. Now we're going to have an endless army of "intelligent" actors that will be weaponized against populations worldwide to secure the position of the ultra wealthy over all of our governments.

I didn't before much, but now I REALLY don't have a positive outlook on our future because of this...

A little on the nose, no?

It's like a complete package, the actual visual representation of what they want to do with Venezuela.

Can I add more trolleys? Can the highspeed rail go back and cover the same path the trolley took? Please?

Fixing things. Mostly if it's for someone else.

Unfortunately as far as work goes, two of the things that make me most unhappy: driving, traffic, are tied to the job of fixing things for people so I quit that job :/

I haven't smelled it in a while, but I don't think I remember it smelling rotten. It wasn't pleasant but also wasn't really disgusting, it was just odd.

I don't know what it is, but I can smell a somewhat metallic type smell on some specific people's breath. It always smells very similar between different people. They generally aren't very healthy, but no one seems to know what I'm talking about.

The Reich wing freaks out when we want to take down a statue of literal traitors who fought in the Confederacy for slavery and cry about "erasing history" but this is ok to them because of the word "gay?"

... truly a group with shit for brains who allow propagandists to do the thinking for them.
