It's not a colonialist threat. It's effectively an act of war.

I'd have to go with Virus.

Wipes out enough people to give humanity a chance to at least try something new from the ashes of the old world, but doesn't leave a lingering threat like Zombies or Aliens or something like that. The survivors (ostensibly those immune to the virus) have struggles, for sure, but at least can rebuild without worrying about a constant existential threat.

If a seagull lives to it's thirties I imagine it's flying around with nothing but Smashmouth banging around it's brain all day.

Respect. He built something bigger than him and then knew that it was time to transition.

They're welcome to it.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the entire benefit of lemmy/piefed/etc... They can have their space, and any other instance can choose not to federate with them so we aren't forced to listen to them, unlike the alternative, where an algorithm forces them into everyone's face.

Rather than telling them they don't have the right to speak, we simply have the ability to shut our window and not listen to them.

Let them bitch at each other.

I feel like even though there were probably instances of it before this, the "Yippee-ki-yay, Mr. Falcon" is kind of the OG, because it's the first one I remember to become well-known on this new thing called "the internet".

You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.
