Atrocious, but also if you are stupid enough to believe these fuckers would actually give you that money, you deserve what you got, I guess?

if you are ~~stupid~~ desperate enough to believe these fuckers would actually give you that money, you deserve what you got, I guess?

Yeah I'm not with you there

[–] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 hour ago

Yeah. Its $1000, these people are desperate. Compassion should be shown.

[–] random_character_a@lemmy.world 23 points 9 hours ago

Country is been run to the ground by convicted con man. What the hell did you expect?

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 193 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Interesting how they heard the news about the self-deportation but didn't hear the news about how Trump never pays people.

It's never an issue until it affects them personally.

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 153 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

In all seriousness, I'm more surprised that anyone got the money at all

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 45 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, that's the real takeaway. I expected them to send them out them say come and get it.

You should pay the first few marks so they’ll help establish the veneer of credibility. That’s Conning 101.

I forget the corresponding Ferengi Rule of Acquisition number.

19 is closest.

Don't lie too soon after a promotion.

Rule 76: Every once in a while declare peace, it will confuse the hell out of your enemies.

[–] mr_account@lemmy.world 13 points 14 hours ago

Gotta do just enough payments that people won't think it's a lie, and that's when you pull the (insufferably obvious) switch-a-roo

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

Well you start it to fool people, then you cut it off. (The only reason it was offered was because it's cheaper than sending an agent after you.)

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 11 hours ago

People lured away with the promise of deportation anyway only to turn themselves in to get something out of it only to then by scammed inhuman.

👏TRUMP👏NEVER👏PAYS👏HIS👏BILLS👏

(Unless it's the hush money bill, or the raping little girls bill, he's always got cash for those)

[–] shittydwarf@piefed.social 41 points 15 hours ago

A trump never pays his debts

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 42 points 15 hours ago

What?! The administration run by a man who is famous for not paying people didn't pay some people?!

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 25 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Trump didn't pay his bill?!?

[–] zergtoshi@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

Last time I heard, he did different things with his Bill.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 17 points 14 hours ago

Trump rarely pays people he looks upon as “the help”.

The man is such a ghetto trash human being.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 11 points 13 hours ago

if you don't pay the first wave, there is no second wave

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I never understood this, maybe they just need the money that badly or are outright threatened.

Why would you believe they would give you money once you’re out of their country. You are no longer their problem.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 hours ago

Believe you are going to be deported anyway but have some trust in "law" so do this so you get something to help you and your family out of it.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

$1000 is absolutely nothing for that. My own move out of the US ended up in the multiple multiple thousands

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 5 points 14 hours ago

Shocked any received it, honestly.

[–] Eh_I@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

Enjoy counting your nothing, idiots.

[–] C1pher@lemmy.world -1 points 8 hours ago

Fucking PEAK comedy lol 🤣

[–] Tronn4@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Por pendejos

[–] Odin@sh.itjust.works -2 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

A lot of countries charge you for the deportation. They will even hold you in jail until you pay it back.

[–] PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 hours ago

Every country does it so that makes it okay /s

[–] porcoesphino@mander.xyz 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Even with this take, it's still dishonest. Something like this is still a pretty motivating: "we could hold you for months more or you could self deport now". And if you're making people sign forms saying one thing and then do another, then it's further undermining trust in the government agencies and the rule of law. Although I suspect some groups confuse harshness with law & justice

[–] Odin@sh.itjust.works -3 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

Undermining trust in the government agencies and rule of law for who? Illegal aliens? They should not trust those agencies or rule of law. They should leave immediately. We shouldn't be paying them anything except a bullet in their backside.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

They pay more taxes than you and get no benefits from the government

[–] porcoesphino@mander.xyz 4 points 6 hours ago

You seem to have a lot of faith that conditional application of laws and contracts will only affect certain groups, those groups won't change, and that it won't extend to you.

Funny you mention the bullet given those that served and took bullets for the US military only to be deported. (Sae Joon Park randomly was an Uber driver of mine a few years ago and was really good to chat with)

You seem like a pretty terrible excuse for a human. I hope you find yourself lost in this, or just screaming into a void until a lonely old age

[–] belastend@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Shooting illegal migrants is one hell of a take, especially from an American.

[–] Odin@sh.itjust.works -2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Better a 9mm to the back of the head over more rapists, pedophiles, and drug kingpins being let into the country. Fuck them.

[–] belastend@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

Lemme just gun you down, Americans have committed so much crime around the world that I can't be sure you're not one of them child murderers.

Hottie on the right definitely needs this fixed. Now, people!

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml -3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

We found somebody that believes what Trump says? They get what they deserve, LIES!

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 11 hours ago

How is this getting what they deserve? In all likelihood believed they were being deported no matter what so figured get something to help themselves and family out of it, they shouldn't be made to feel that way or trust in the promise but that's more naivety than anything else hardly deserving being scammed.
