I’m heartened to see a Muslim man was a hero and wrestled a gun from one of these shitheads. I hope the one that survived the attack lives to face justice for his crimes.

Did they at least kick the shit out of him after disarming him?

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Unfortunately no. The hero points the shotgun at the murderer but it appears he either didn’t know how to use it or wasn’t prepared to shoot someone. The murderer then runs over to his accomplice and picked up another gun. The video is on the publicfreakout subreddit if you want to see it.

Here in not-america we generally don't kill people who are not an imminent threat, like someone who has been disarmed.

I've seen the video of the guy being disarmed and moving away towards the bridge, but not the part where he re-armed himself.

Even if, in this particular case, the perp did rearm and injured more people, our hesitance to shoot someone who is not an imminent threat has no doubt prevented the deaths of many thousands of people over the years.

Can I suggest that when posting news about terrorist mass murders you don't make the first word of your description, "Fun."

[–] Visstix@lemmy.world 67 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (9 children)

Israel instantly blaming it on australia. Wonder if israel is involved.

"the blood of the murdered is on the hands of the Australian government, which announced recognition of a 'Palestinian' state and gave legitimacy to terrorism against Jews."

Israel is the nr1 cause of antisemitism around the world. But sure play the victim again. They also knew of the october 7th attacks and used it as an excuse to wipe out a country. So sorry if I am a little suspicious. They probably aren't directly involved but are definitely the cause.

Don't know why you're getting downvoted, but it should be obvious to anyone that the terrorist state of Israel will never accept any blame for painting targets on all the Jews around the world, because that would also be admitting to all the atrocities they carried out.

I suspect lemmy was invaded by Israeli bots to try and control all the antisemitism.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think it’s more people don’t like the implication without any evidence that Israel is involved beyond fostering the conditions that have fanned the flames of global antisemitism.

[–] SereneSadie@quokk.au 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Then they're involved anyway.

Fuck Israeli pigs.

I posted an unfounded comment in an untimely manner. It's about the victims and I turned it political. I just posted it on an impulse.

If there's a way to handle things incorrectly, Israel will find it.

Why are Israel like this man. Like someone kills a load of people who either have connections to Israel or follow the same faith, a heinous and abhorrent act against innocent people.

Yet Israel has to come out and mention Palestine and blame Australia seemingly based on no evidence whatsoever.

If one’s things certain we can’t know who did this right now. The right have hated Israel and Jews for as far as I can remember and the left is pissed off at Israel and some will conflate Israel with Jews.

As an avid supporter of Palestine and critic and Israel I want to say that not all Jews are responsible for the acts of its government just as not all Palestinians are supporters of Hamas.

Zionism is literally all about driving a wedge between communities.
