Google has definitely gotten worse in the past few years and it's fucking impossible to find any articles or news or academic papers or anything on any topic that doesn't fit the opinion of Washington or Langley.

Anyone have any recs on what else to use.

DuckDuckGo has been a “good enough” option for me the last 5 years. A couple times a year when I’m not getting good results, I try the same search on Google and don’t get anything better.

I have been using Brave Search for over a year and have been very pleased with the results. I have also seen a lot of good things about Kagi, but it does require a subscription.

4get as an alternative fronted without javascript. Many people host it to obfuscate other users search-queries, by mixing random strangers together as far as I understand. For example nadeko.net hosts it.
