It doesn't look like the major instances forbid posting in Portugese, and it's ActivityPub+AtProto, so people can follow you from Mastodon and BlueSky. It doesn't really matter if your audience is local.
Yeah, having non-local public is not a problem. My blog is mainly seen by english speaking profiles and my only follower for now is chinese. But I'd rather want to avoid getting troubles by posting in Portuguese in instances on friendica where it says "English".
