Save before fight so you can simply restart each time you fail to capture them. Thank god there's no Mr. Resetti
induce Paralysis (thunder wave usually)
mid/super effectiven attacks to whittle down health

Iirc sleep is better than paralysis for catching pokemon.

Honestly I just cheat now, I haven't played a modern Pokemon game in generations, I'm not interested in wasting time on intentionally low random results as "difficulty."
