It's hard to find strongly qualified, non-white male candidates in some sectors simply because we've been oppressing the crap out of women and POC for so long that they aren't in the market getting experience.
Even if DEI brings in a slightly less skilled candidate, they come up to speed and then have the experience to stay in the market.
We need DEI to make sure the workplaces mirror the population distribution.
