The street gained mass attention and even became a landmark after The Beatles named their 1969 album 'Abbey Road', with the album cover featuring the four members crossing the road.

Now, every day, dozens of eager and excited tourists head to the location to recreate the iconic album cover.

However, it seems some of those tourists expect a bit more than just a road when they make the trip to St John's Wood and often end up disappointed.

Many of those tourists have taken to the online review site Tripadvisor to share their upset.

One visitor titled their review "disappointed doesn't cover it..." explaining: "On reflection, I think I may have been expecting too much. My disappointment in not finding street sellers, either side of the road, selling cheap t-shirts and merchandise was a surprise."

They added: "It's just a zebra crossing and you'd save yourself some money by just standing on any of the millions in the UK and just photoshopping the background in."

Another upset Beatles fan shared that there's 'nothing to see': "I am a massive Beatles fan, but there really is nothing to see here.

"It's just an ordinary zebra crossing. It's busy - crowded with fellow tourists trying to work out if they are even at the right place, and with annoyed drivers trying to drive down a busy main road."

A babysitter in Kansas found a troubling surprise after a child she was watching complained there was a "monster" hiding.

The babysitter found a man hiding under a child's bed after they attempted to show the children there was nothing under there, the Barton County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Wednesday.

"She came face-to-face with a male suspect who was hiding there," the sheriff's office said.

...

The following day, deputies spotted the man while they were in the area looking for the suspect. He ran and after a short pursuit, deputies caught him.

Martin Villalobos Jr., 27, was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail on multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping and child endangerment. The sheriff's office said Villalobos is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Villalobos once lived on the property, the sheriff's office said. There was a current protection order issued against him to stay away from the property.

Chanel Tapper, 34, who has held the Guinness World Record for the longest tongue (female) since 2010, said her tongue, which measures 3.8 inches from the tip to her lips, gets her an array of reactions.

"Honestly, the best reaction I could ever get when someone sees my tongue is screaming. I actually do like when people yell or scream in shock, or horror sometimes," she told Guinness World Records. "But that's probably my favorite one because it's funny to me because it's a dramatic response."

Tapper showed off some of the tricks she has learned to perform with her tongue, including removing Jenga blocks, flipping plastic cups and holding a spoon.

"I like little fun, silly things like that. That's what makes my tongue the most fun when I can do things that are outside the box with it," she said.

A mum from Prestatyn claims she's been denied a passport by the Home Office after changing her name to Pudsey Bear for charity 16 years ago. Eileen De Bont, 53, became 'Mrs P Bear' in honour of the Children In Need mascot having raised £4,000 at an online eBay auction for the cause back in 2009.

The Welsh mum-of-two, now affectionately known as 'Mama Bear' by her daughters, successfully changed her name when the UK Deed Poll Service secured the highest bid. She had given a list of 50 options stating that she would change her name to the one chosen by whoever bid the most.

Her driver's licence and bank card both bear the names 'Mrs P Bear' and 'Mrs Pudsey Bear' respectively while council tax communications address her as 'Ms Pudsey Bear' and Inland Revenue calls her 'Mrs Pudsey Bear'.

Despite being recognised by various government agencies under her chosen moniker she has struggled with the Passport Office which has repeatedly refused to issue her a passport, calling her name change "frivolous". Mrs Bear recently faced another setback when warned that her renewed attempt at acquiring a passport could be thwarted due to potential copyright infringement issues.

She told MailOnline: "All my bills, my bank details, the GP, my local health trust – verywhere else has accepted my new name. Everywhere except the Passport Office. When I applied back in 2009 their reasoning was that it was a frivolous name and therefore the answer was no."

She continued: "I thought that after 16 years the passport agency can hardly call my name 'frivolous'. It is my name, and has been for 16 years, so I would like it on the front page of my passport next to my photograph."

Mrs Bear has previously been asked if she'd revert to her birth name but she's fond of her current name and doesn't want to change it. Her tarot reading business, Northern Light Tarot, which boasts 32,000 subscribers on YouTube, is even registered under Mrs Pudsey Bear at Companies House.

She was advised to seek permission from the copyright owner, the BBC, before proceeding with her application. Having given up driving due to medical reasons she now finds herself without any valid form of photographic ID.

Two Japanese tourists in their 20s were detained for two weeks in China then deported for taking photos showing exposed buttocks at the Great Wall, local media reported.

The incident at the World Heritage site near Beijing concerned a man who showed his bottom and a woman who took photos, NTV and other Japanese media outlets reported yesterday.

...

Tokyo’s foreign ministry said today that “the Embassy of Japan in China confirmed on January 3 that two Japanese nationals were detained by local authorities at the Great Wall.”

They “were subsequently released and returned to Japan during January”, it said in a statement.

...

Exposing the lower half of the body in a public place is against the law in China, according to the reports.

The tourists reportedly told the Japanese embassy they did it as a prank.

The reports sparked outrage in China, where memories of atrocities committed during Japan’s colonial occupation of the country in the 1930s and 40s still inspire strong feelings.

A hashtag translating to “Japanese man and woman detained for indecent behaviour at the Great Wall” had been viewed over 60 million times on social media platform Weibo by Friday morning.

Many top-liked comments blasted the tourists for the act, with some using hateful language toward Japanese people.

One comment by Chinese actor Chen Yitian, who has over 7 million followers on the platform, condemned them for doing “shameful things on my Great Wall”.

Others suggested China ban all Japanese visitors

One of the UK’s leading comedy clubs has banned guests with botox in a move that’s no laughing matter for those with “reactionless” faces.

Top Secret Comedy Club has hosted some of the biggest names in comedy, with star acts Jack Whitehall, Amy Schumer and Dave Chappelle gracing the stage in their Drury Lane and Kingsway clubs.

In a drastic move, those with botox will be unable to see similar stars live at the London venues after stand-up acts shared concerns that audience members with frozen faces aren’t reacting to their jokes.

A woman in China is reportedly facing a lawsuit for making her boyfriend undergo three hours of childbirth simulation that led to physical harm.

The man in Henan province had to be hospitalised and have part of his small intestine removed after undergoing the painful simulation, China Times reported.

The man had agreed to undergo the pain simulation test after his girlfriend and her mother insisted that he should experience a woman's challenges before their engagement.

The man initially rejected the proposal but later reluctantly agreed to go to a medical centre where he was hooked up to electrodes that gave out electric currents to mimic the sensation of contractions, reports said. Several hospitals in China have been offering childbirth pain simulation experience for over a decade.

In a post on Chinese social media app Xiaohongshu or Red Note, the unidentified woman said the first 90 minutes involved manually increasing the level of pain, while for the rest of the session, the intensity of pain remained at the maximum level.

"My boyfriend started screaming and struggling at level 8, swearing and crying at level 10, and by the end, he was gasping for air. My sister and I kept wiping his sweat," the woman wrote, according to South China Morning Post.

The man suffered from abdominal pain and started vomiting shortly after returning home. A week later, it was discovered that the simulation damaged a part of his small intestine, forcing him to undergo surgery.

...

Later that day, police learned Covington boarded the train at the Central West End station. Near Lambert Airport station, he allegedly exposed himself and attempted a sexual act for about 10 minutes with the upper bar of a train seat.

Doctors in the Indian capital, Delhi, have performed a life-changing surgery on a 17-year-old boy to remove his "parasitic" twin that was attached to his abdomen.

A parasitic twin is an underdeveloped conjoined twin that relies entirely on the host twin for survival.

They are extremely rare, with less than one case occurring, external per 100,000 births.

The teenager who had a fully developed extra set of limbs and a pelvis - sustained by a chest artery - underwent a two-hour surgery at Aiims hospital in Delhi.

Dr Asuri Krishna, who led the team of specialists, said the surgery was particularly challenging because of the patient's age.

"Only 40-50 cases of parasitic twins have been documented in world medical literature and, in those cases, the surgery had been attempted on children," Dr Krishna told the BBC.

With insufficient medical literature to guide them, the team had to rely on their "intuition, skill and knowledge", he added.

Parasitic twins form when one foetus partially develops while attached to the other.

In this case, the teenager had two fully formed legs, buttocks and external genitalia - weighing nearly 15kg - protruding from his abdomen.

Remarkably, the parasitic limbs could feel pain, touch and change in temperature.

...

The teen was discharged four days after being admitted. He is healthy and has suffered no complications from the surgery, Dr Krishna says.

A husband is said to have murdered his wife with a “big a*** knife” when she was less than enthusiastic over his Valentine’s Day plans.

Taylor Meyer, 34, had put together a Paris-themed night for his partner Deborah, buying her a new dress and having their children draw pictures of the Eiffel Tower. His attempts are said to have been borne out of suspicions she was having an affair with a co-worker.

However when he unveiled the plans she “didn’t give a s***”, according to court documents . The evening allegedly ended with her being beaten with a wine bottle and then stabbed her 40 times, as their children - all aged under five - slept upstairs in their home in Jefferson, Louisville in the US.

Law and Crime reported he told investigators: “It was the hardest I’ve ever tried. She just didn’t give a s***.” An affidavit says: “For the last two months I’ve been staying home with the kids every Saturday night while she goes and f****s whoever and lies to my face about it.

...

When she was dead he is said to have taken a picture of her body and texted it to the person she was allegedly sleeping with, adding: “Your fault.”

A male stripper caused a stir at a Middlesbrough care home this week, when he replaced the residents' usual "knit and natter" session with a striptease.

Max Hunter was a care home manager before he became a stripper and decided to offer the elderly residents a show.

"I spoke to the gang here and the ladies said a resounding 'yes please'," said Astune Rise care home's manager Caroline Bowstead.

"I've never seen a reaction like it at any event we've done."

A video of the event shows Mr Hunter gyrating with the home's residents and stripping off his uniform down to his underwear.

The residents twirled pants and props as Mr Hunter danced in the living room of the care home, which was decked out in red shimmer curtains.

...

"Everybody was smiling and that's beautiful."

"I loved his backside," added resident Betty Hughes.

A pub scored an own goal with a promotion offering a free pint every time Nottingham Forest scored - only for the Reds to win 7-0.

The Gedling Inn, in Nottinghamshire, came up with the promotion to spread the word after it started to televise local Premier League games at the venue.

But the incentive backfired after Forest scored seven without reply against Brighton on Saturday - and almost 300 free beers were handed over the bar.

Landlady Beccy Webster said: "When the final whistle went, I just said 'phew!'"

A man who told doctors he ate nothing, but 6–9 pounds of butter, cheese and hamburgers every day for eight months ended up at Tampa General Hospital with yellowish lumps of cholesterol developing on parts of his body.

The backstory: According to JAMA Cardiology, a man, who is only identified as being in his 40s, told doctors that he got diet advice from the internet and began following an extreme carnivore diet.

For eight months, he only ate 6–9 pounds of butter, cheese and hamburgers a day. He stopped eating all carbohydrates, such as bread and sugar.

At first, he said he felt great. He lost weight, became more energetic and had more mental clarity.

But after about eight months, he started developing yellow lesions on his eyelids. Over the next month, the yellow lesions appeared on the palms of his hands, the soles of his feet and his elbows.

Doctors diagnosed him with xanthelasma, a rare condition that impacts about 1% of patients with high cholesterol.

Dig deeper: Xanthelasma is yellow raised deposits of cholesterol that appear under the skin because the body cannot process it.

A stubborn grandfather had a motorway built around his house in China after refusing to move, despite being offered £180,000 in compensation.

Huang Ping’s two-storey home in Jinxi, China, is now surrounded by a construction site with constant dust, noisy builders and vibrating walls.

He says he now regrets not taking the Chinese government’s money and fears what living in his property will be like once the expressway opens in Spring.

“If I could turn back time, I would agree to the demolition conditions they offered. Now it feels like I lost a big bet,” he said.

On Monday, January 13, officials at the Cantacuzino Hospital in Bucharest alerted police that a man stole three amputated legs from the storage area. While two were later found, the third is still missing.

The incident took place three days prior, on January 10, and was captured by surveillance cameras. Images published by Euronews Romania show a man whose face is hidden, wearing a jacket and sports pants, entering the storage area designated for medical waste and then exiting with a yellow bag, in addition to the black bag he was already carrying. The individual later abandoned one of the bags.

Investigators have opened a criminal case for qualified theft and are searching for the suspect. They are also trying to determine the whereabouts of the third leg. Two have already been found: one within the hospital premises near the medical waste area and another on a street near the medical facility.

...

The hospital, which was fined RON 4,400 (EUR 885) by the authorities for mishandling the legs, has started its own investigation alongside that of the police.

The patient: A 20-year-old woman in the United Kingdom

The symptoms: The patient had unprotected vaginal sex with her habitual male partner, and shortly afterward, her vulva and vagina began itching and swelling. She developed angioedema — swelling of the tissues below the surface of the skin — and hives appeared across her body. She also felt faint and short of breath.

What happened next: The woman visited a hospital and was given 10 milligrams of cetirizine, an oral antihistamine that's typically used to treat hives and allergies. She was already aware that she was severely allergic to Brazil nuts, a type of tree nut, but it was unclear what triggered her allergic reaction in this instance.

They conducted skin prick tests on the patient using different semen samples from her partner; this involved exposing small regions of skin to each sample. For one test, the doctors used a sample taken when the man had not recently eaten nuts. The other test used a sample collected about 2.5 hours after he ate Brazil nuts. In the latter test, a 0.28-inch-long (7 millimeters) welt appeared on the woman's skin. That suggested that Brazil nut allergens were behind her severe postcoital allergic reaction.

...

What makes the case unique: There are other documented cases of individuals with severe allergies developing local allergic reactions after intimate contact. However, the culprit is usually the direct transfer of allergens through touch or kissing. In other words, the allergen is present on a person's hands or mouth and then gets passed over.

"To our knowledge this is the first case of a severe food allergic reaction transferred by normal vaginal intercourse," doctors at the hospital wrote in a report.

A temple in Tamil Nadu reportedly denied a devotee's request to return his iPhone which he accidently dropped into the 'hundi' (donation box or hundial), asserting that it has now become temple property.

The devotee, identified as Dinesh, realised that his iPhone inadvertently slipped into the 'hundi' while he was making the donation at Arulmigu Kandaswamy temple in Thiruporur near Chennai.

He then approached temple officials and pleaded for the return of his phone. However, his request was met with a polite refusal.

Interestingly, the temple administration permitted Dinesh to retrieve the data from his Apple device, but declined to return the phone itself. Dinesh, however, stood firm, insisting on the phone's return.

When the matter reached Karnataka minister PK Sekar Babu, he stated that any item deposited in the donation box of a temple, regardless of whether it was intentional or accidental, becomes part of the deity's account.

A 25 year-old woman and a 26 year-old man were sentenced to life in prison in a German court on Thursday for the murder of the woman’s lookalike in a scheme to faker her death.

According to the court, the Iraqi-German woman, named only as Shahraban K, wanted to go into hiding due to family conflicts and fake her own death. She went onto social media to search for a doppelganger and arranged to meet a 23 year-old woman, whom she then killed with the help of an acquaintance.

The trial lasted 11 months and more than 50 days of hearings were needed. The court ruled the crime to be particularly serious, which makes it unlikely that the sentence will be suspended after 15 years — a common occurence in Germany.

Handing down the sentence on Thursday, the presiding judge in the city of Ingolstadt described the murder as a "disturbing act".

...

Once they had picked her up, the pair brought the victim to a wooded area and stabbed her 56 times.

The victim’s body was then placed in Shahraban K's car, where her parents discovered it and thought it was their daughter’s. But after an investigation, the corpse's true identity was discovered.
