The active aerodynamics are perhaps the biggest change from a car perspective, with two separate modes simply called "Straight Mode" and "Corner Mode." Corner Mode is effectively the car in its normal, full-downforce state, allowing maximum performance from the aerodynamics through corners. In Straight Mode, the front and rear wing flaps open up to reduce drag, providing an increase in top speed for less energy. This configuration is only available to cars in designated areas on each circuit, that will be defined by straights with a minimum length.
So straight mode is just DRS but without having to be within a second of the car.
It will still be used only within a second of the car ahead.
Edit - Overtake is just rebranded DRS, the active aero reads as if it can be used without being a second apart but only specific areas. Kind of confusing tbh.
Yeah this is how I’ve read it now.
Overtake is the new DRS but it’s not rear wing moving and you have to be within a second.
Boost is similar to what they could do now. I think it may even be the same thing. ERS
And the Active Suspension is like DRS now, the wings move to reduce drag but it can now be used anytime in designated straights.
Thats probably the best summary I've read so far
Replacing DRS, the new overtaking aid will simply be known as "Overtake,"
I'm sure this won't result in any miscommunication or confusion.
